About: Tupuānuku has been initiated to transform the future of learning for horticulture businesses, to enable rapid future horticulture sector growth and to improve the wellbeing of whānau across Tai Tokerau.

Tupuānuku is leading this Tai Tokerau Horticulture Pilot to form the strong regional partnerships required between employers, ākonga, iwi/hapu and the education community, working with central government agencies to design a new way of operating for NorthTec.

Horticulture is the focus for Tupuānuku to support the current rapid regional growth in horticultural investment, to increase iwi/hapū participation and ownership in the sector and to address current critical workforce shortages that are creating an immediate skills shortage and galvanising willingness to partner across the industry.

E.g. Ministry for Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE), Ministry for Social Development (MSD) and Te Puni Kōkiri (TPK).
