We are a progressive New Zealand horticultural producer and exporter of capsicum based in Warkworth and we seek a full time Maintenance Engineer to manage our onsite maintenance team. Our operation has 5 large complexes including a packhouse facility and chiller, and 27 hectares of glasshouse. You will be responsible for all building, machinery, equipment, purchasing as well as project work installing or modifying any new equipment or buildings.

This is a hands-on role where you and your team of seven will undertake maintenance or new work servicing for our extensive glasshouse and packhouse operations. There is a lot of specialised equipment that you will need to become familiar with. Our operation relies on heating, ventilation, irrigation, pipework, tanks, ozone, sterilising machines and much more to ensure our plants are growing in optimal conditions. You will need to manage a preventative maintenance programme and ensure a quick response to breakdowns. We have recently installed a Online Maintenance Management System and you will need to use this to manage workflow, ensure accurate reporting and historical reference information.

The successful applicant will:

  • Have a mechanical or engineering trade qualification and/or equivalent experience. Limited Electrical Registration would be an advantage.
  • Have over 5 years work experience doing maintenance in a manufacturing environment or similar.
  • Have strong supervision experience.
  • Be flexible with hours to be able to attend after hours callouts when required and be committed to the job.
  • Be experienced using computerised maintenance management systems.
