We are a successful horticulture business with over 250Ha’s of Apple, Kiwifruit and Boysenberry Orchards stretching over the Waimea Plains in Appleby near Nelson. What you need to provide is self-motivation and the drive to do a good job.
The position will start with a winter pruning role; you will learn different skills as the season’s change. If you have had experience in operating machinery e.g. tractors, forklifts, quad bikes and previous supervisory experience this will be an advantage.
The tasks that you will be doing are, but not limited to:
• Winter pruning
• Fruit thinning
• Tree training
• Grafting / notching
• Flower removal
• Tractor work, spraying, mowing, mulching etc.
• Forklift work
• Supervision of teams
• Orchard development
Our Winter core hours are 8.00am – 4.30pm, working Monday to Friday and Saturday work if needed, during the peak seasons. These hours will change to 7.30am - 4.00pm as the mornings get lighter.
