About us

De Costa Enterprises Ltd is a family owned and operated horticultural and agricultural farming company based in sunny Gisborne. A great management opportunity has arisen for a talented and motivated individual to join our highly valued team. We have two orchards: 12 ha of apples (Envy, Jazz) established in 2017/2018 and 8 ha of citrus (Navels, Valencias) Our trees are in excellent health and the grounds are highly maintained. All our plant and equipment is new and in excellent working order. You will have all the bells and whistles required to perform this role to the highest standard. We have recently purchased two new harvesting platforms to add to our orchard fleet.



Qualifications & experience


  • New Zealand Certificate in Horticulture - Fruit Production. (preferred)
  • Min 2 years relevant supervisory experience
  • Growsafe and Approved Handler certified
  • Sound knowledge of horticultural practices in the pip fruit industry.
  • Current full driving licence / forklift licence
  • Team player who leads by example
  • Excellent communicator
  • Friendly, positive and approachable with a great sense of humour
  • Ability to work under pressure / Respectful to others
  • Maintain/develop strong professional relationships internally and externally




Tasks & responsibilities


  • Manage all orchard tasks and efficient use of resources
  • Ensure all Health & Safety processes and procedures are followed
  • Record and report key orchard data
  • Ensure compliance with all required certification (Global GAP etc)
  • Responsible for spray programmes and maintaining accurate spray diaries
  • Overseeing, training and supervision of staff and contractors
  • Take ownership of the orchards and take pride in your work
  • Hands on roll
