Description
We are seeking a motivated Orchard Operative to assist the manager in the smooth running of orchards within the Teviot Valley.
The role is a permanent role of 40 hours, 5 days per week between the hours of 6am – 6pm. Operational requirements may include weekend work as agreed.
- Maintenance of orchards and fruit production
- Mowing, mulching, weed and crop spraying, pruning, irrigation and fertigation, planting, at specific times, efficiently and to a high standard
- Supervision of orchard and harvest teams as required
- Accurate and timely record keeping
- General plant, building and tree maintenance
- Equipment and tool maintenance to specifications to ensure safe working order
- Willingness to upskill knowledge in fruit production across but not limited to: tree/plant health, pest and diseases and plant nutrition
- Sound understanding of Health & Safety and Food safety
Key Requirements:
- Previous orchard experience is advantageous but not necessary
- A keen desire and willingness to learn and be within the horticulture industry.
- Horticultural certification an advantage but not necessary
- Experience in operating orchard machinery an advantage i.e. tractor, hydrolada, quad bike
- Ability to manage small teams
- GrowSafe Certification preferably but not necessary
- Problem solving skills and ability to adapt to ensure efficiency and safety
- Outstanding time management and organisation skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Physically fit and able to perform manual task as well as working outdoors
- Ability to pass random drug and alcohol testing

Goldenview Ltd grow predominantly stonefruit (cherries, apricots, peaches, nectarines, plums), berry fruit, asparagus and cut flower production across 8 hectares. We offer a dynamic variety of work across different crops with harvest season starting late October until early March. Competitive wages based on experience level.
